Objectve
The objective of this study was to investigate the usefulness of home test device (SwimCount®) compared to conventional semen analysis for screening of male subfertility in Asian men.

Material and Methods
A total of 100 Asian patients who visited to evaluate male fertility were included. Semen samples were analysed using Makler counting chambers and compared to SwimCount®. 0.5mL of the semen sample was added to the SwimCount® test device and conventional semen analysis was performed by WHO 2010 criteria. Test results were identified and categorized as low (<5x106/mL), normal or high (>20x106/mL) PMSC. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to investigate the accuracy of SwimCount® test device.

Results
The mean concentration of sperm was 77.26 million/mL. The mean progressive motility was 37.6%. The mean PMSC was 28.24 million/mL. The conventional semen analysis revealed 28% of the samples with PMSC below the threshold of 5 million/mL sperm count. An area under curve (AUC) of 0.85 (95% Confidence interval 0.77-0.94, p<0.0001) was obtained when the home based device compared with conventional semen analysis. The best balance between the sensitivity and specificity were obtained at a cut off value of 8.5 million PMSC/mL, which have given a sensitivity and specificity of the 80.6% and 82.1%, respectively. The cut of value of 8.5 million PMSC/mL was obtained to categorized to low PMSC group in this study.

Conclusions
The results confirmed the reliability of SwimCount® as a simple screening device for male subfertility including sperm motility in home based method. This home test device could assist to seek precise fertility evaluation in advance.
